SUMMARY:TRB Webinar: Can Rural Microtransit Work?
DESCRIPTION:Rural providers face the inherent challenge of covering large service areas with low population densities\, long distances to meet basic needs\, and isolated pockets of poverty. As suburban microtransit has proliferated across the U.S. and been positively received by riders\, rural providers are considering whether microtransit is a solution that could work for them. TRB will host a webinar on Monday\, June 15\, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Eastern that will share the findings from TCRP Synthesis 178: Microtransit Solutions in Rural Communities: On-Demand Alternatives to Dial-a-Ride Services and Unproductive Coverage Routes. Presenters will share an overview of the state-of-the-practice in rural microtransit\, in-depth case studies\, and overarching lessons and themes seen across several case studies.\nThis webinar is sponsored by TRB’s Transit Cooperative Research Program.\nThere is no fee to attend this webinar. Registration is required.\nA recording will be sent to all registrants after the webinar.\nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:TMS Emerging Topics Series: Cybersecurity
DESCRIPTION:Traffic Management Systems (TMSs) infrastructures have traditionally been designed\, operated\, or managed as a closed system. They leverage the information sharing from other systems\, their agency\, systems external to their agency\, or other interests. The exchange and utilization of data heightens the vulnerability of the TMS to potential cyber threats and attacks. In addition\, the emergence and use of modern technologies or methods to share data (e.g.\, wireless) magnify the threat landscape for the controlled\, safe\, and reliable operation of TMSs. This webinar will focus on \n\nCybersecurity issues to consider in planning\, design\, development\, implementation\, testing and acceptance\, initiation\, management and operation\, maintenance\, and repair of TMSs or specific assets and resources.\nPolicies\, practices\, and tools to use in support of addressing\, mitigating\, or recovering from cyber security threats or actions (e.g.\, disruption of service\, data breaches\, cyber-attacks).This webinar is part of Traffic Management Center Pooled Fund Study project to share information on traffic management system (TMS) emerging topics and an ongoing series focused on sharing information on emerging traffic management system (TMS) topics being co-sponsored by the National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE)\, Traffic Management Center Pooled Fund Study\, and FHWA.\n\nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:TMS Emerging Topics Series: Partnering with Universities for Traffic Management System Support
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will focus on Partnering with Universities for Traffic Management System Support. \nThe partnerships between or procuring services transportation agencies (i.e.\, state/local DOTs\, traffic management systems (TMSs) or centers (TMCs)) and academia is a common practice with several benefits to all partners\, yet the nature and role of these partnerships or opportunities is often overlooked and not well documented. This is specifically true for partnerships among TMSs and Universities. This webinar will be used to explore and document practices for TMS-University partnerships or procurement efforts in support of capturing the relevant services universities may be able to support (i.e.\, managing data\, monitoring and reporting on performance\, evaluating TMSs\, assessing operational strategies\, etc.). \nThis webinar is part of Traffic Management Center Pooled Fund Study project on providing periodic educational webinars to TMS Pooled Fund Study members. \nClick here to register.
