SUMMARY:TMS Emerging Topics Series: Monitoring and Reporting on Performance of Traffic Management Systems
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will focus on Monitoring and Reporting on Performance of Traffic Management Systems. \nPerformance monitoring\, evaluation\, and reporting is an essential task for TMS as they help determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the system. In order to provide useful performance information\, it is important to define the subsystems\, functions\, actions\, and services of a TMS that needs to monitored\, evaluated and reported on. In addition it is important to specify the scope of the TMS performance monitoring and reporting. These may include: \n\nTMS asset performance (e.g.\, number of system failures within a period of time\, detector communication performance\, etc.).\nTraffic impact performance (e.g.\, section travel times\, section average speed\, section throughput\, etc.).\n\nThis webinar will be used to: \n\nHighlight key performance indicators that can be used to monitor\, evaluate\, and report on TMS performance considering which aspect of TMS performance (i.e.\, TMS assets performance or traffic impacts of TMS operations) to be reported on.\nIdentify challenges or issues associated with developing a successful performance measurement program; identifying\, collecting\, processing\, and archiving required data needed for performance monitoring and reporting; developing insightful and understandable TMS performance indicators; and other technical/institutional challenges regarding TMS performance monitoring and reporting.\n\nThis webinar is part of Traffic Management Center Pooled Fund Study project on providing periodic educational webinars to TMS Pooled Fund Study members. \nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:TRB Webinar: Research in Progress—Sharing and Finding Transportation Research
DESCRIPTION:The Research in Progress (RIP) database provides access to information on current transportation research and highlights what other institutions are working on. Together\, RIP and TRID (an integrated database of transportation research) are essential tools for developing research problem statements\, preparing and responding to requests for proposals (RFPs)\, and planning future projects. TRB will host a webinar on Thursday\, September 10\, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Eastern that will show researchers how to search both databases to find ongoing and recently completed research. The presenter will share how to obtain an account to enter and update projects to comply with Public Access Plan requirements and help other researchers find out what is already in progress or recently completed.\nThis webinar is sponsored by TRB’s Executive Office.\nThere is no fee to attend this webinar. Registration is required. \nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:TMS Emerging Topics Series: Partnering with Universities for Traffic Management System Support
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will focus on Partnering with Universities for Traffic Management System Support. \nThe partnerships between or procuring services transportation agencies (i.e.\, state/local DOTs\, traffic management systems (TMSs) or centers (TMCs)) and academia is a common practice with several benefits to all partners\, yet the nature and role of these partnerships or opportunities is often overlooked and not well documented. This is specifically true for partnerships among TMSs and Universities. This webinar will be used to explore and document practices for TMS-University partnerships or procurement efforts in support of capturing the relevant services universities may be able to support (i.e.\, managing data\, monitoring and reporting on performance\, evaluating TMSs\, assessing operational strategies\, etc.). \nThis webinar is part of Traffic Management Center Pooled Fund Study project on providing periodic educational webinars to TMS Pooled Fund Study members. \nClick here to register.
