SUMMARY:Afternoon Ethics & Dinner Presentation: Connectivity in New Jersey
DESCRIPTION:The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Met Section\, representing members in the New York/New Jersey area will be hosting Afternoon Ethics & Dinner Presentation: Connectivity in New Jersey. The afternoon session will cover “Engineering Ethics”\, reviewing the ethical obligations of engineers in the preparation of their work and professional conduct. It will also review several examples\, with questions of actions that can be taken.\nThe evening program will feature several speakers on “Connectivity in New Jersey”\, including Andrew Tunnard\, Assistant Commissioner of Transportation Operations Systems and Support for NJDOT; Sal Cowan\, Senior Director of Transportation Mobility for NJDOT; and Wasif Mirza\, Director of the Division of Mobility and System Engineering at NJDOT. The session will focus on discussing some of the progress made in the “Connected and Autonomous” realm by NJDOT (Mobility Engineering) and efforts made to transform yesterday’s infrastructure to be ready for tomorrow’s technology. The discussion will include overviews of the challenges and complexities presented by the rapidly changing landscape of innovative technologies. DESCRIPTION:This full-day symposium is designed for industry and agency stakeholders to build relationships with researchers and identify opportunities to collaborate. It is the second CEE Symposium\, which Rutgers plans to be a long-running biennial event.\nSpeakers include NJDOT Commissioner Diane Guitierrez-Scaccetti and other industry leaders. Guests will tour the specialized labs in the new Richard Weeks Hall of Engineering at Rutgers University and see demonstrations of many engineering innovations birthed at Rutgers. ASCE President Robin Kemper presents the afternoon keynote\, which will be followed by a panel discussion.
