SUMMARY:POSTPONED! Tech Talk! Webinar: EDC Safe Transportation for Every Pedestrian
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: This live webinar has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. \nThose who are registered will remain registered. \nPlease join the NJDOT Bureau of Research on April 2nd for an Innovation Exchange Webinar\, “EDC Safe Transportation for Every Pedestrian (STEP)”\, that we are convening in Training Room A in the E&O Building at NJDOT Headquarters. \nSafe Transportation for Every Pedestrian (STEP)\, an Every Day Counts (EDC) innovation\, is about a new type of “STEP” to keep pedestrians safe at uncontrolled road crossing locations. This webinar will outline five cost-effective countermeasures available to local agencies\, and identify resources to guide in their selection and installation. Stories from local agencies will tell of county\, city\, and Tribal deployment leadership\, with details on site and countermeasure selection\, installation\, monitoring\, and improved safety measures of success. \nAICP and NJ PE credits are available. This “live” webinar event is free to attend\, but you must register ahead of time to guarantee a seat as there is limited space in the training room: \nWEBINAR: EDC Safe Transportation for Every Pedestrian (STEP) https://webinar-step-localnj.eventbrite.com/

SUMMARY:Adventures in Crowdsourcing: Identifying and Managing the Back of Queues (EDC5 Webinar Series)
DESCRIPTION:Crowdsourcing turns transportation system users into real-time sensors on system performance\, providing low-cost\, high-quality data on traffic operations\, roadway conditions\, travel patterns\, and more. Identifying and managing the back of roadway queues is an important part of traffic operations and safety. Participants will hear from agencies that have or are advancing in the practice of data management to support crowdsourced data in operations\, leading to a better understanding of ways that agencies and responders can identify and manage traffic queues due to work zones\, incidents\, and other sources of congestion.\nFurther Information and Registration can be found here https://transportationops.org/event/adventures-crowdsourcing-identifying-and-managing-back-queues-edc5-webinar-series .

SUMMARY:Lunchtime Tech Talk! WEBINAR — EDC-5: Weather-Responsive Management Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Join the NJDOT Bureau of Research on Tuesday\, April 14th for a Lunchtime Tech Talk! WEBINAR on EDC-5: Weather-Responsive Management Strategies.\nThis event will feature Ray Murphy\, ITS Specialist with the FHWA Resource Center. \nBy adopting WRMS\, transportation agencies can better manage traffic and maintenance roadway conditions during inclement weather to improve safety and reliability\, and minimize environmental impacts of weather on the transportation system. WMRS use road weather data from Integrating Mobile Observations (IMO) and connected vehicle technologies\, combined with informed decisions stemming from the collaborative strategy known as Pathfinder. With this data\, State and local agencies can deploy appropriate traffic management strategies where they are needed before negative incidents occur\, and reduce costs associated with winter maintenance\, including salt and chemical applications. \nIn addition to expertise in Road Weather Management\, Mr. Murphy is an expert in the areas of transportation cybersecurity and connected/automated vehicles. He has more than 30 years of experience as an electrical engineer\, having served both in the U.S. Naval Civil Engineers Corps (SEABEES) and Illinois Department of Transportation. \nThe event is free\, but registration is required to receive the URL link to the webinar. NJ PE and AICP credits are available\, but you must be registered for the event. SUMMARY:FoRRRwD on All Public Roads: Funding and Data to Identify Projects
DESCRIPTION:Rural roadway departures make up a third of U.S. traffic fatalities – about 30 people a day. TheEvery Day Counts round five (EDC-5) initiative\, Focus on Reducing Rural Roadway Departures\n(FoRRRwD)\, features four pillars: Addressing All Public Roads\, Systemic Approach\, Safety Action\nPlans\, and Proven Countermeasures. This webinar focuses on the first pillar. \nRural Agencies and Tribes\, come learn what you can do\, where you are\, with what you have\, to\nreduce rural roadway departures. You can make a difference! \nMore information on the webinar and registration information can be found here https://www.ndltap.org/training/downloads/FoRRRwd-webinar.pdf .
