SUMMARY:TRB Webinar: Container Port Landside Congestion Experiences and Solutions
DESCRIPTION:The global supply chain crisis was accompanied by record container cargo volumes at ports on the Pacific\, Atlantic\, and Gulf coasts that resulted in container yards at capacity and decreased operational efficiency impacting multiple aspects of landside port operations. TRB will host a webinar on Monday\, February 5\, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Eastern that will reflect on how stakeholders handled landside congestion and the solutions that could be implemented in the future. Presenters will discuss recent experiences and the infrastructure and technological approaches that have and can be implemented.\nThis webinar is a follow on to TRB Webinar: Navigating the Supply Chain Congestion Crisis https://webinar.mytrb.org/Webinars/Details/1546 . \nThis webinar is sponsored by the TRB Standing Technical Committees on Ports and Channels and International Trade and Transportation. \nRegistration is free for employees of TRB sponsors as well as Titanium and Cobalt Global Affiliates. Highlights of this new tool in SMS 13.3 include: \n * Auto mesh generation for bridges\, including wall piers or cylindrical piers\, and skewed abutments.\n * Auto mesh generation for circular and box culverts\n * 3D visualization of bridges and piers or culverts\n * Improved pressure flow computations for variable bridge and culvert geometry\n * Independent structures added individually to a simulation rather than as a boundary condition \nThese new features represent a significant advancement in bridge and culvert modeling. \nFollowing the 3D Tools discussion\, they will also discuss some best modeling practices as well as tips and tricks. They may also be visited by a surprise guest speaker…stay tuned. \nPlease check to be sure you are using the latest version of SMS/SRH-2D 13.3.8 https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https:%2F%2Flnks.gd%2Fl%2FeyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDUsInVyaSI6ImJwMjpjbGljayIsInVybCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LmFxdWF2ZW8uY29tL2Rvd25sb2Fkcy1zbXMiLCJidWxsZXRpbl9pZCI6IjIwMjQwMjAxLjg5NDg1MjkxIn0.sN5FFa5aInoHHrrvZKYv-_08zol7bEP47KRETunz_zI%2Fs%2F1109316789%2Fbr%2F236342079810-l&data=05%7C02%7Ctea51%40scarletmail.rutgers.edu%7C6dceb38de4114edf180208dc23344910%7Cb92d2b234d35447093ff69aca6632ffe%7C1%7C0%7C638423954670940998%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=UKzP0Hh%2BKLPDGAZhHYEGws2M2iLgE4TfTqwQUITSr64%3D&reserved=0 (likely 13.3.9 before this webinar). \nIf you have any specific questions you would like addressed\, please send them to scott.hogan@dot.gov mailto:scott.hogan@dot.gov as soon as possible. \nZOOM Meeting Link!
