SUMMARY:NJLTAP – Getting to Vision Zero: Implementing a Toward Zero Deaths Strategy at the Local Level (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:New Jersey DOT and many other states have adopted the Toward Zero Deaths initiative. This workshop will introduce the Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) road safety strategy\, the background of the zero deaths philosophy\, and the latest roadway fatality trends. It will identify the six emphasis areas in the TZD National Strategy and explain the importance of safety culture. Participants will learn the implementation steps for TZD on local roads and understand the proactive steps to take to start a zero deaths program in their municipality or county\, as well as where to find additional resources for TZD.\nLearning Objectives: \n 1. Gain an understanding of TZD and how it relates to the state SHSP\n 2. Learn about developing TZD strategies for their agencies\n 3. Learn the definition and importance of Safety Culture \nRegister Here https://web.cvent.com/event/cab5faba-8b7d-4b46-8e5c-6901dd2e3c55/summary

SUMMARY:Short-Term Traffic Prediction for Proactive Transportation Management
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will discuss upcoming research findings and publications on STP\, plus lessons learned from early adopters.\nThe search for traffic congestion solutions continues to evolve with advances in technology and a better understanding of traveler behavior. Consequently\, transportation agencies are evolving towards a proactive management approach that is capable of delaying or eliminating traffic flow breakdowns. \nA key aspect of proactive management is short-term prediction of traffic conditions. Short-term prediction (STP) is a real-time prediction capability that uses both historical and current data to forecast future traffic conditions for a pre-defined prediction time horizon in the near-term (e.g.\, the next 10\, 20\, 40\, 60 minutes). \nThe ability to conduct STP is essential for moving up the Active Transportation and Demand Management (ATDM) continuum to a state of truly proactive management. STP also enhances integrated management as agencies have enough time to share information and take coordinated\, proactive actions. Register below to learn about this solution from both FHWA and public agencies who are implementing it. \nInstructors: \nTopics and Speakers: \n * FHWA Short-Term Traffic Prediction Project\n o David Hale (Leidos)\n o Mohammed Hadi (Florida International University)\n * Cranberry Township Short-Term Prediction System:\n o Kelly Maurer (Cranberry Township\, PA)\n * City of Dubuque Short-Term Prediction System:\n o Chandra Ravada (East Central Intergovernmental Association)\n o Dave Ness (City of Dubuque\, IA) \nClick here to register. https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_GxlspOIqT9KXYl5_dycGkQ#/registration

SUMMARY:Emerging Data and Work Zone Safety Applications
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will focus on the latest advancements in work zone safety\, including the use of emerging data and innovative applications. Emerging datasets\, such as those provided by CVs\, crowdsourced data\, probe data\, and image analytics\, have the potential to be effective surrogate measures for safety that can be used more proactively to identify safety issues within a work zone.\nThis session will highlight three case studies across Arizona\, Iowa\, and Virginia\, showcasing the potential of connected vehicle data and other emerging datasets to enhance work zone safety. As with any emerging data source\, it can be difficult for practitioners to understand how to use the data that align with traditional data collection practices. \nThis webinar will summarize a wide range of use cases evaluated as part of the case studies including monitoring speed limit compliance\, enhancement and measures of effectiveness for transportation management plans\, distracted driving in work zones and historical safety risks. \nClick here to register. https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_tGVBd8uuRDeUr_iGEY5KkA#/registration
