SUMMARY:NJLTAP – Local Road Safety Plans (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:This course will introduce how to improve safety by developing and implementing an action plan. We will discuss local road safety plans\, an FHWA proven safety countermeasure local agencies can use to identify at-risk locations on their roadways and deploy cost-effective safety solutions. Participants learn how to implement safety improvements targeted at areas that have a history of crashes or exhibit conditions associated with high-crash areas. Participants will learn the steps to develop and implement a Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) for their community. The Safe System Approach to safety will be introduced.\nLearning Objectives: \n 1. Gain an understanding of the state Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP)\n 2. Learn about developing local road safety plans (LRSP) for their agencies\n 3. Learn about the implementation\, evaluation\, and updates for LRSP\n 4. Introduction to FHWA and NHTSA safety countermeasures \nClick here to register. https://web.cvent.com/event/c830eb69-9d25-4126-867d-e30876addd24/summary

SUMMARY:Using Data to Inform Transit Planning and Operations
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with CTAA’s N-CATT program\, this webinar will highlight how several agencies are using transportation data to improve transit planning and operations. Agencies will discuss data collection\, coordination across agencies\, stakeholders involved\, and how the use of data is sustained.\nThe prevalence of data available for transportation operators continues to grow and with it comes more applications. The connection between TSMO and transit is important in developing the applications to improve transit operations; TSMO is continuing to collect data for TMCs\, crowdsourcing\, and other applications and its use to improve transit specifically can yield benefits across the entire transportation system. \nTransit providers from Montana and North Carolina will discuss how they’re using data to perform their transit operations and provide attendees with tips on doing the same. \nClick here to register. https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_LmnNjTkpRdabmld3aLUnNQ#/registration

SUMMARY:EDC-7 Webinar All About Adaptive Lighting
DESCRIPTION:Adaptive roadway lighting is the lowering or raising of the light level based on the needs of the context of the roadway and the users. With the introduction of new control and ballast technology that LED luminaires provide\, roadway lighting can be adapted to accommodate changes on the roadway such as traffic volumes\, weather conditions\, existing or background lighting conditions and pedestrian usage as well as address over-lighting and light trespass. Adaptive lighting also provides maintenance benefits by extending the life of lamps and drivers and increase the efficiency of maintenance staff. During the webinar\, roadway lighting experts will also share in-situ installations and results in terms of safety\, road users’ impressions and energy usage. This is a great opportunity to hear the latest in the technology and answer your questions.\nClick here to register. https://usdot.zoomgov.com/meeting/register/EAQhV5QjTmKa33NOadJwWg#/registration

SUMMARY:TRB Webinar: Developing Statewide Comprehensive Transit Information Systems
DESCRIPTION:State departments of transportation (DOTs) and metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) are working to improve how they collect\, integrate\, and present transit schedule data across multiple agencies within their regions. TRB will host a webinar on Thursday\, May 15\, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM Eastern that will discuss strategies for integrating diverse transit data into a single platform or centralized source. Different state DOTs and MPOs have different goals for this integration—ranging from data collection and analysis to enhancing traveler information—which result in varied approaches. Presenters will share examples of these approaches\, highlight common challenges and solutions\, and explore ongoing questions about implementing integrated transit data systems at the statewide or regional level.\nClick here to register. https://webinar.mytrb.org/Webinars/Details/1857

SUMMARY:Short-Term Traffic Prediction for Proactive Transportation Management
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will discuss upcoming research findings and publications on STP\, plus lessons learned from early adopters.\nThe search for traffic congestion solutions continues to evolve with advances in technology and a better understanding of traveler behavior. Consequently\, transportation agencies are evolving towards a proactive management approach that is capable of delaying or eliminating traffic flow breakdowns. \nA key aspect of proactive management is short-term prediction of traffic conditions. Short-term prediction (STP) is a real-time prediction capability that uses both historical and current data to forecast future traffic conditions for a pre-defined prediction time horizon in the near-term (e.g.\, the next 10\, 20\, 40\, 60 minutes). \nThe ability to conduct STP is essential for moving up the Active Transportation and Demand Management (ATDM) continuum to a state of truly proactive management. STP also enhances integrated management as agencies have enough time to share information and take coordinated\, proactive actions. Register below to learn about this solution from both FHWA and public agencies who are implementing it. \nClick here to register. https://transportationops.org/event/short-term-traffic-prediction-proactive-transportation-management
