It’s All About Communication
The New Jersey Department of Transportation Mobility Engineering Unit invites all NJDOT employees to seminar.
The Connected Vehicle concept refers to the capability of the various elements of the modern surface transportation system (personal, transit, and freight vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, roadside infrastructure, transportation management centers, etc.) to electronically communicate with each other on a rapid and continuous basis.
Advancements in communications technologies are spurring a revolution within the United States transportation network. Dedicated short-range communication (DSRC), Cellular (4G Enhance, 5G) and Wi-Fi technology allow drivers, pedestrians, transit passengers, freight operators, and transportation management personnel to communicate with each other within a connected transportation network. These methods of communication along with the connected vehicle (CV) model, are moving rapidly from the experimental phase into real-world deployments in many places throughout the US, including New Jersey.
The NJDOT’s Mobility Engineering Unit invites all NJDOT Employees to this seminar to learn about the communication technologies necessary to building a connected vehicle infrastructure. As this technology develops and spreads, the public will realize safety, mobility, and environmental benefits improving how we move about our daily lives.
