Lunchtime Tech Talk! Cost-Effective Connection Design for Orthotropic Bridge Decks
Dr. Sougata Roy will discuss the benefits of using orthotropic bridge decks, focusing on the design, fabrication, and construction. His talk will highlight the Route 7 Wittpenn Bridge between Kearny and Jersey City, the first orthotropic bridge constructed by NJDOT. Dr. Roy is an expert in Structural Engineering with specialization in Fatigue and Fracture of Steel Bridges and Structures, with more than 29 years of experience in academic research and structural engineering consultancy. Dr. Roy received a Baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Calcutta, India, and Masters and Doctoral degrees in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University. Over the past 10 years, he has been active in research and knowledge dissemination on steel orthotropic bridge decks. Dr. Roy serves on several AASHTO and TRB committees devoted to advancing innovation and standards in bridge design.
