As a proactive planning tool, it serves as a resource for transportation and environmental practitioners at State Departments of Transportation, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, and other transportation entities to assist in the development and implementation of programmatic mitigation plans (PMPs) for impacts of future transportation projects to environmental, cultural, historic, and other resources.
Under applicable Federal law, transportation agencies and project proponents have the responsibility to mitigate unavoidable impacts to ensure the preservation of environmental and cultural resources. The webinar will explore how State DOTs and MPOs can develop a PMP in coordination with resource agencies and other stakeholders, that not only meets the statutory requirements, but also builds upon best practices in mitigation, resource science, and transportation planning.
